Letters of Recommendation, Continued
October 27, 2011
I first met Mr. Jesse Kushner and Professional Education and Respite Service Inc. in 2008. I had traveled to Manassas Virginia to participate in an 8 hour ABA training he was hosting. I was impressed with the information I received and the quality of presenters he brought in. Despite my intrigue and interest in this company, I decided to go with a company that others in my area were recommending. Oops, that was a mistake. So, two years later, after losing complete confidence in another vendor to help our six year old son with Autism, Mr. Kushner and his team sat at my dining room table to discuss programming. Mr. Kushner was confident that he could deliver positive results.
Almost four years later Professional Education and Respite Service Inc. is still very much involved in our lives. It is clear that Mr. Kushner’s team made good on his promise and continues to provide two specialists per week to deliver one-on-one services in the two room classroom setting we established downstairs. I needed someone confident in their ability to deliver an ABA program. Professional Education and Respite Service fit the bill. I also needed someone flexible enough to work with other professionals and assist with other therapies. Again, I made the right choice.
My son, John, has improved greatly. He has gone from a child who wasn’t accessible for education in the public schools, learned very little the first three years in school, would not sit and attend, communicated with one and two word utterances, refused to cooperate, and was frequently aggressive when he did not get his way. Johnny is now very cooperative, is able to attend to academic instruction. He is reading sentences, paragraphs, and stories and has developed a base of sight vocabulary words, can phonetically read multi-syllable words using blend and diagraphs, speaks in sentences, writes legibly. Johnny now attends to a variety of lessons up to 60 minutes in length, works steadily with only a few short breaks and is productive during his four hours of school. He is a different child than he was two years ago. Our collective and collaborative approach with PERS has paid off.
We are very pleased with his progress and PERS’ no nonsense but personable and nurturing approach with John. They also back up what they say with religiously collected data. My only regret is that I did not call on Professional Education and Respite Service Inc. sooner. My husband and I highly recommend PERS to families searching for help for their children on the spectrum. Mr. Kushner and his staff sincerely care about children with special needs and will do whatever it takes to help them.
