Letters of Recommendation, Continued
WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I was recently asked by the owner of Professional Education and Respite Services LLC if I could write a reference letter. This is one of the few times when I am more than happy to do it.I am the mother to a fifteen year old boy who has Downs Syndrome. My son Richard has been one of my greatest joys and one of my biggest trials. He has had some behavioral issues (non-violent) that would drive Mother Teresa to drink. I finally got him into a good school this past September and I am so thrilled with his progress words cannot express how happy I am, but it was due in whole to his teacher Jesse Kushner.
My husband and I went in over the summer and expressed our concerns over Richard's education and his behaviors. We were very straight with Jesse and let him know that Richard would be a trial. I loved the fact that he listened to everything I said and came up with some suggestions on what they would try at school and what we could incorporate at home. Now to be completely honest, I was not thrilled with one or two of the suggestions but I told him we were willing to try anything and if they did not pan out try another route.
Well Jesse's suggestions did work and we have incorporated them at home as well and the difference in Richard in just nine months is incredible. He went from being a child that would not listen and not work to going to school and doing 13 step work assignments. He comes home and cleans his room with 98% less prompting and less groaning (on his part LOL) than before and he pays attention and listens. I was really at the end of my rope and ready to pay out of pocket for his education and in all honesty had real issues about anyone (including family members) watching him for more than 20 minutes at a time.
I am due to have our fifth child June 4, 2005 (pretty much any second now) and have already spoken to Jesse about being there to watch Richard when it is time, and going on a vacation with our family so that when I go on vacation this year I actually get a break LOL. I was thrilled when he told me about his new business not just for me but for other parents like me because if you are reading this letter you are in the same position I am and it is about time we have a service for our children with an experienced and trustworthy person. It makes such a huge difference to know that kids like ours can be left with someone that will not only keep them safe but will help them learn as well. Please feel free to contact me at any time with. I will be more than happy to help.
THANK YOU,
LEA D.
