Dear Professional Education & Respite Services (PERS),
Today begins the end of a fantastic year receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services with your company, PERS. During this time, our son, Robert (changed to protect confidentiality) has made improvements in several areas. He has made huge gains in his self-help skills, ability to follow routine instructions and the emergence of receptive and expressive language has increased. As a result of his improved communication skills, we have seen a decrease in inappropriate behaviors and inattention to tasks. Before we began services, he had challenging behaviors including tantrums, non-compliance, and aggression. Furthermore, his language was minimal. He could not consistently imitate sounds and words or label items.
Through resources from the TRICARE Demonstration project, we are grateful to have your team of ABA professionals, Sandra (supervisory BCBA) and Courtney (ABA Tutor). They have collaborated to design a personalized, comprehensive program for our son. The personalized program has promoted and encouraged him to “come out of his shell” and interact with his family and environment!
The personalized home program has been integrated with his school curriculum to provide a comprehensive program for his development. Sandra has attended several school IEP meetings and assisted the IEP team in the development of appropriate goals and identification of additional services. We are very pleased with her supervision as it supports the alignment of the home and school program interventions. In addition, Sandra provides a bi-weekly summary report of assessment results and recommendations which serves has a “roadmap” for our family to follow on a daily basis. To ensure that the positive behavior is maintained between sessions, Sandra provides family training which has been most beneficial to us during family outings.
Courtney continues to amaze our family with her innovative teaching style. She is not just a tutor; she is a passionate teacher who demonstrates a high level of professional fulfillment in her daily interactions with our son. Courtney provides direct one-on-one therapy which Robert responds positively. His learning has benefited from her unique ability to systematically manipulate antecedents and consequences, thereby reinforcing positive responses and minimizing the negative behaviors.
We look forward to the continued high quality therapy service your team has provided to us over the past year. We genuinely thank you and your ABA team for making a difference in the life of our son!
